Twenty-seven years ago, my husband and I were that couple—newly married, deeply in love, and trying to build a life without any real example of what a successful marriage looked like. We both came from single-parent homes led by strong women, yet neither of us grew up with a male role model or a model marriage to guide us.
We longed for the connection of a kindred spirit, but without a blueprint, we had no understanding of the nuances, the emotional skills, or the intentional work needed to truly sustain a healthy union. So we had to blaze our own trail.
Through years of tests and trials, courageous conversations, healing, and gathering tools along the way, we discovered that time alone does not create a thriving marriage—intentionality does. It was our lived, practical experience—coupled with a relentless commitment to do the “warrior’s work”—that transformed our marriage from simply surviving to deeply thriving.
That transformation became the foundation of the Find A Keeper modality, an empowerment-based coaching approach built on the belief that every couple can experience success when they learn to Talk, Trust & Thrive.
